Meet The Designer
STEPH O’DONOHUE

What is your background?

I am a qualified Interior Designer who graduated Swinburne University with a Bachelor of Interior Design and a minor in Industrial Design. I’ve been a kitchen, bathroom and joinery specialist in Melbourne for 10 years.

What made you want to get into interior design?

The way humans interact with space and their emotional response to interiors is fascinating to me. The ability to change mood and shape experience with good design is a thrilling thing.

What do you love about your job?

I love meeting new people and getting to know how their home needs to function for them. I also love giving people permission to make the bold choices they really want to make.

What tile designs really get your heart racing?

I love juxtaposing scale. So tiny mosaics contrasted with enormous slabs is something playful and textural that I love to show clients.

What product trends are you seeing when it comes to tile and flooring?

Bigger is better! Oversize and slab materials are here to stay and I love using them on new builds.

If you could makeover your own kitchen, what would it look like?

Probably forest green and gilded gold, travertine or terracotta floors with a high, curvaceous party bench with integrated ice bucket made from dolomite marble. Perhaps a giraffe print ceiling? – But don’t worry, I’m very good at following a brief. So I won’t do that to your home if you don’t want me to
